An Alternative to the Alternative

So, as I told you a few days ago, I'm spending this month with my car dial tuned into Christian radio.  I feel like we let so much stuff come into our minds without realizing it, and sometimes we just need to sort of reset it.  Step back and evaluate how things are affecting your mindset.

Unfortunately, if you are like me, the syrupy sweet, constantly encouraging nature of most Christian stations isn't for you.  It's fine to listen to once a week to and from church, but the thought of listening to it for a whole month makes me gag a little.

Then, I discovered that there is something different.  There is alternative Christian music.  Well, to be honest, I already knew there was alternative Christian music.  What I didn't know is that there were radio stations that would play it.  I found Air 1 purely by accident, and I'm loving it.  The DJ's are funny and silly and talk about real stuff, and I don't think I've heard a Steven Curtis Chapman song once (sorry Steve).

If you are turned off by typical Christian stations, you should try to find an alternative one.  The one I'm listening to has stations all over the country.

  1. Or you can even try classical. I find classical more spiritually moving (even for this Atheist) than anything else on the radio. Or better yet try driving without the radio. I find that nearly complete silence to be beneficial spiritually.

    1. Yeah, I do like silence, sometimes, too. You are definitely right about that! Classical, not really my taste, unless I'm drinking coffee and eating a sandwich next to the fire, haha. :)

  2. i like it too... it's uplifting but still in line with the style of music i enjoy. However, i feel like air 1 only plays like 20 songs. Am i wrong about this?

I can only listen to it for like 2 days before i have to go elsewhere for a while (due to the repeating).

    1. I don't know. I haven't been listening to it long enough to notice that. I guess I could switch back and forth. There are like 3 Christian stations around here.
