Last week I wrote about "being still".  Part of doing so, is learning contentment.

"Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.  I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little." Phillipians 4: 11, 12 (NLT).

My Grandma has this verse posted in her home, more than once, I think.  I used to think that seemed sort of sad.  But why?  True...she doesn't live a lavish life.  But, I truly think she is content with what she has.  She knows she has what she needs.  How blessed she is to have contentment with her Lord and what he has given her.

My mom and Grandma at the Jelly Belly factory!

I think I need to learn a lesson from her.

  1. What a great post! And, I believe you DID learn a lesson from her. And such a valuable one...:0)Your Grandmother and your Mother are wonderful women of God! What a treasure you have in that as well!! Proverbs 16:16(KJV)
16How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

  2. Wonderful text! I want to work inspiration like that onto the walls in our home.
