Motherhood Monday-Exhausted

It's finally catching up with me.  Motherhood is hard!  I'm exhausted.  I feel like I'm running on empty and can hardly do the bare minimum.  I definitely don't seem to have the time or energy to do anything else.

Brandon laughed at me, tonight, when I drug myself off of the couch and said, "I better pay the car bill before I get too tired to do it."  Really?  Can I really be so tired that it is hard to walk 6 feet to the computer to click a few times and pay my car payment?

Oh's so worth it.

Another Wreath

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law bought their first house!  I made them a little housewarming wreath.

I made the flowers using this tutorial.  I used purple (my sister-in-law's favorite color) and sort of ivory/cream chiffon fabrics.

Motherhood Monday

Life is feeling pretty normal, lately.  I guess that was bound to happen, eventually.  I feel pretty comfortable as a parent.  I don't always know what I'm doing, but I think Brandon and I are doing a pretty good job.

Baby got his shots this week.  We've had nasty diapers, warm foreheads, and fussy times.  The life of a baby is hard.

Last week I wrote about "being still".  Part of doing so, is learning contentment.

"Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.  I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little." Phillipians 4: 11, 12 (NLT).

Motherhood Monday

It's been a little bit crazy around here.  Life is in full swing.  I've learned a few things, over the past week.

1.)  Going back to work isn't so bad, if you have a great babysitter.

It's amazing the peace of mind I have.  I expected to struggle much more with going back to work. But, I feel so good about the dear friend that I have watching my son, that the transition really wasn't so bad (not to mention my mom watching him once a week).  I think I can do this after all . :)

2.)  Getting things done, just isn't that important.

I found it a bit confusing that Baby seemed fussy for me when we were home, but happy and sleeping all day with Oriona (my awesome babysitter/friend).  When I mentioned it to her, she told me she just liked to hold him all day.  I realized that I'm just trying to get too much done.
The new plan around here is to spend time with my little guy as much as I can, and optimize the time after he goes down to accomplish other things.

    Being Still

"Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)  This is one of my all time favorite Bible passages.  This is a message from God that I yearn to follow, but somehow, always fall short.

I "have" to do the laundry, clean the bathroom, vacuum the floors, run some errands, pull the weeds...the list goes on and on.  Granted, there is nothing wrong with any of these things.  They all have their place.  But where does the priority lie?  Unfortunately, for me, it lies in the doing and buying  and accomplishing.

What I really need to do, is just be.  I need to just be with my family.  I need to just  be with my friends.  I need to be in nature and in God's word.  I need to just be still, and stop worrying about what needs to be done.

I challenge myself to be still this week.  Will you join me?

    Family Organizer

I am guest posting over at Beginner Beans, today.  You should recognize Trina from her Healthy Home Post on simplicity.  I guess, in a way, this organizer is an attempt to simplify a bit in my life.

I am constantly looking for ways to be more organized, but I rarely follow through with them. I have seen tons of weekly planners and menu planners on Pinterest, lately. I made my own.

Go check out my tutorial on Trina's awesome blog, by clicking here!

    Motherhood "Monday"

This was the week to change our new little lives, yet again.  I had my first day back at work.  It wasn't so bad.  Of course, staying home every day would be better.  But, I only have to go in to the office 3 days a week and am working from home some on the other 2.  That is definitely better than working a full 5 days in the office.

It would have been much worse if I had to bring my little man to a day care.  But, thankfully, I have a great friend who is a stay-at-home-mom.  She is watching him 2 days a week, and my Mom is watching him on her day off (she only works 4 days a week).

It was also Brandon's birthday!  Here's my little family at his party.

    Motherhood Monday

Sorry for missing last week!  I was sick, and....I have a baby, which makes time at the computer difficult to come by.  I know....excuses, excuses.

But, the good news is that you get two weeks worth of motherly madness!

I've been trying to get baby boy on a schedule, and I think I've FINALLY figured it out.  I don't have it completely down, yet, but we are getting there.  I am reading a book called The Baby Sleep Book by 4 different Dr. Sears (My mom LOVES the Dr. Sears from the Doctors).  It says to pay attention to baby's natural sleepy times, and then you can go from there.  So, I've spent this week working on that.  This is what I have discovered.
